As a leader in horticulture enterprising and promoter of youth leadership in the agriculture sector, the tropical horticulture foundation in 2018 led an initiative to create a network of farmers and actors in the food system in Southwest of Cameroon to seek solutions to common problems plaguing the food system in the region and beyond. This initiative was highly applauded and supported by many and with the help of the then Director of Borstal Institute Buea (Mr Fidelis Njie Ewumbue) and with the support of partner organisation like FAAFNET, a conference that convene farmers and transformers was organised in Buea – the regional  capital of the Southwest. Participants came from different agriculture producing areas in the Southwest region and neighbouring regions. Transformers and other actors such as supply chain individuals including “buyam and sellers” were also present for the pioneer conference. Showcasing of quality seeds, farm inputs and transformed/processed agricultural products were also available. During the symposium participants formed groups of five or more persons to share experience and provide potential solutions to farmers challenges to help boost agriculture production and attract more younths into the farming business or food systems industry at large.
